🎉 Cheshire Art Classes Is Growing! 🎉 We’re thrilled to launch a brand-new 4-week Oil Painting Course at The Hall At Marthall — a beautiful venue perfectly located just 3 miles from Knutsford. This new location opens the doors for even more art lovers to experience our friendly, inspiring classes. 👉 Good news! Our popular Farndon Morning & Evening and Mollington Oil Painting Classes are continuing as usual. 🎨 Who’s It For? This course is perfect for beginners and amateur artists who want to explore oil painting in a relaxed, sociable setting. You’ll be guided by professional artist Dan Bethell, who brings over 8 years of experience teaching adults in a variety of mediums. 🖌️ What You’ll Learn: Over four creative weeks, we’ll complete a landscape oil painting — a structured and supportive way to begin (or refresh) your oil painting journey. Landscape is the perfect theme for working with more freedom: explore your palette, develop your mark-making, and enjoy a larger canvas while experimenting with brushwork. You'll be guided step by step through: 🎨 Colour mixing and understanding your palette 🖌️ Underpainting to build tonal structure 🧱 Blocking in – focusing on tonal values, colour saturation, and reflected light 🌄 Understanding how colour saturation decreases with distance in landscape perspective 🖌️ Layering techniques to gradually develop form and atmosphere 🖌️ Brushwork & mark-making — using different brushes/pressures for sky, land, foliage, and water. ✨ Glazing and oiling out to refine sharpness, enhance detail, and unify the final piece 👩‍🎨 Live demonstrations and hands-on group instruction throughout You'll learn to observe how light, environment, and colour relationships affect your subject — and how to bring your painting to life with clarity and depth. 🧰 What’s Included: ✔️ A2 Canvas - Optional 60x40cm Linen Canvas (Italian premium linen canvas smooth texture less grain. ✔️ All essential painting materials provided* *Please bring your own oil painting brushes, palette knife and apron.
