Working from artist references, tonal studies, and carefully selected imagery, you'll learn how to interpret the sky rather than simply copy it, creating expressive skyscapes full of movement, mood, and atmosphere. 🖌️ What You'll Learn Across four relaxed and supportive sessions, you'll explore essential techniques for expressive oil painting, including: ☁️ Understanding different cloud formations and how to simplify them into painterly shapes 🎨 Learning to create rich, impasto-like textures using a variety of brushes and palette knife techniques, bringing energy, light, and movement to your paintings 🎨 Mixing harmonious colour palettes to capture changing light, atmosphere, and weather 🌤️ Painting dramatic skies with expressive brushwork, soft blending, and confident mark-making 🧴 Exploring the consistency of oil paint using a variety of painting mediums to create luminous layers, subtle transitions, and rich texture while controlling drying times 🌈 Creating depth, distance, and atmosphere through colour temperature and tonal values 👩‍🎨 Live demonstrations and personalised guidance throughout every stage of the painting process By the end of the course, you'll complete a striking expressive skyscape on canvas while developing practical oil painting techniques and the confidence to continue exploring skies and landscapes in your own work. 🧰 What's Included ✔️ 400x400 Standard canvas supplied ✔️ All essential painting materials provided* Please bring your own brushes, palette knife, and apron. For this course, we recommend Rosemary & Co.
