Service Description
🎨 Brushwork & Paint Handling in Oils You asked, I listened! Following feedback from my students, I'm delighted to introduce a brand-new workshop dedicated entirely to understanding brushes and how they influence the way we paint! Explore four professional Rosemary & Co brush ranges — Evergreen, Ultimate Bristle, Ivory and Red Dot — and discover how different brush fibres influence paint application, texture, blending and mark-making. Working from a carefully selected reference image, you'll create a painting on a 10 × 12" panel divided into four sections, using a different brush family for each. This allows you to physically compare how each brush handles oil paint and understand when and why to use particular brushes. 🖌️ What You'll Learn 🎨 Brush Families – Comparing synthetic and hog bristle brushes and their characteristics. 🖌️ Paint Consistency & Loading – Understanding how paint thickness and brush loading affect application. ✨ Pressure & Direction – Creating expressive marks through brush movement, pressure and angle. 🌿 Mark-Making & Texture – Exploring broken colour, scumbling, blending and impasto. ☀️ Hard, Soft & Lost Edges – Controlling transitions and creating depth. 👁️ Brush Selection – Choosing the right brush for different painting techniques. Each stage includes demonstrations and individual guidance from professional artist Dan Bethell. 🎁 Professional Brushes Provided Throughout the workshop, you'll have access to four Rosemary & Co brush ranges: 🖌️ Evergreen – Versatile synthetic for controlled application. (VG) 🖌️ Ultimate Bristle – Traditional hog bristle for texture and firmer marks. (Pig Hair) 🖌️ Ivory – Firm synthetic designed to replicate hog bristle. (VG) 🖌️ Red Dot – Responsive synthetic offering softness and flexibility. (VG) Every student also receives a Size 6 Rosemary & Co Evergreen Filbert brush to keep, allowing you to continue developing your brushwork at home. 🎨 What's Included Four professional brush ranges to experiment with, one Size 6 Evergreen Filbert brush to keep, oil paints, mediums, a 10 × 12" painting panel and reference imagery. 🖌️ What to Bring An apron or suitable clothing and a box to transport your wet painting home. 🌟 Who Is It For?
