A Huge Thank You to Our Young Artists!
We want to extend a big thank you to all the young artists who joined our six-week art club at Farndon Community Club! Throughout the course, we explored the beauty of the Cheshire countryside through various artistic techniques and mediums.
In the first two weeks, we focused on drawing, experimenting with charcoal, graphite pencil, compressed charcoal, and artisan ink. Our young artists practised different methods, including drawing with their non-dominant hand and quick observational sketches ranging from 1-minute to 10-minute studies.
Next, we spent two weeks exploring watercolours, using David Hockney’s iPad drawings as inspiration. We studied his bold use of colour and layering techniques while experimenting with wet-on-wet painting, Brusho watercolour pigments, salt, and masking fluid. In our second session, we introduced oil pastels to add expressive mark-making and a sense of looseness to our paintings.
For the final two weeks, we brought together everything we had learnt to create individual acrylic paintings on canvas panels, inspired by the Cheshire landscape. Using our Hockney studies as a reference, we explored colour palettes and mark-making techniques to bring our unique landscapes to life.
We are incredibly proud of everything our young artists achieved in just an hour and a half each week! We can't wait to welcome you back for our next four-week children's art club, starting on Tuesday, 29th April, from 4:15 pm to 5:45 pm.
See you soon for more creativity and fun! 🎨✨
