Dan Bethell Art
Professional Artist & Tutor

Graduated from Falmouth University in 2017 with a 1:1 First Class honours degree in Fine Art.
My passion for helping others experience the joy of art began during my time at Falmouth University, where I spent countless hours in workshops exploring printmaking, woodwork, metalwork, casting, and a variety of other processes. It was there that I discovered how much I loved not only learning new techniques but also sharing them—supporting fellow students, assisting new year groups, and fostering creativity in every studio space I could.

For the past seven years, I have taught privately, working with students of all ages and abilities across a wide range of mediums, including graphite, pastels, oils, acrylics, watercolour, printmaking and even furniture making. My own professional practice as an artist allows me to show students what is truly possible within their work, helping them develop strong technical foundations while encouraging them to explore new creative territory.
I founded Cheshire Art Classes in 2020, initially teaching via Zoom during the COVID pandemic and moving to in-person sessions as soon as restrictions allowed. Nearly five years later, the studio has grown into a thriving creative community where I now teach up to 60 adults each week through structured classes and specialised courses. I also run children’s workshops during school half-terms—an important offering, as many local schools are unable to provide the resources or specialist tuition that young creatives desperately need.

Today, I teach across four different locations throughout Cheshire to make classes as accessible as possible. Alongside my regular weekly sessions, I also offer a range of one-off workshops for art groups, community organisations, and businesses—providing creative well-being days, team-building experiences, and tailored artistic events designed to inspire, relax and bring people together.

My teaching is grounded in a clear, step-by-step approach that helps students build confidence while pushing the boundaries of their creative abilities. I now also run specialist courses in art history, historical techniques, and practical colour theory to ensure that my students continue to grow in both skill and understanding, deepening their relationship with art at every stage.

An Original Oil Painting
An original oil painting is like no other piece of artwork you will own. A traditional medium marked in history for its vibrance and characteristics of showing the artist's hand. Painted on oil-primed Belle Arti linen canvas and using the best high-pigmented artist oil paint. Every oil painting is varnished 3-6 weeks after completion using Gamblin - Gamvar - Satin Picture Varnish - trusted by the National Gallery in London.
